Recently I taught a Zoom class covering the topics, How to cover your dark circles & How to achieve a quick smokey eye!
Let’s tackle the most annoying question a lot of women are trying to ace at: How can I cover my under eye circles?
1> First & foremost, you need a corrector. A corrector does not conceal your eye circles, it’s purpose is to cancel out the brown/purple color under your eyes. More often than not, southeast Asian women have warm undertones, which makes their eye circles brown in color. For this, an orange corrector is your best bet. My advice is to start with the MAC Corrector. Apply sparingly under your eye with your ring finger or with a synthetic eye brush. Let it dry for a couple of seconds & top it up with your favorite concealer.
2> Let’s talk smokey eyes now! To start with you need either a Tuxedo Caviar eye stick from Laura Mercier, an eye color that is creamy yet long-lasting & easy to blend. You use a brush such as the Real Techniques brush – a smaller one from this set. Apply the color directly on the eye socket and on the waterline. Blend the color all over the eye socket with small movements making sure the color doesn’t leave your crease area.
While applying to the eye line inside the waterline, make sure to apply it a little thicker than you would apply a kajal. Use a pencil brush like this one from MAC, to blend your lower lash line. When I say blend, it’s a back & forth motion that is soft to the touch, be gentle with your eyes.
Next, top this with a black eye shadow in the same way as above mentioned steps. This locks in the cream product & makes sure your eyeshadow does not move. Next, you take the other brush from the Real Techniques set & use a soft brown eyeshadow to blend just above where your black eyeshadow stops; if you know and have heard of the windshield wiper movements ;). Blend in small motions & not over blend or take away all the eyeshadow work you have done.
